Why do BT put us on servers in United States

Do Bt have their own servers in England.
I was with 1&1 thought that was in gb but they put me on a German server. I thought BT being the uks biggest telephone company would have thier own servers. Just joined last month and found I am now on a server in the United states. Had a problem with Fast Host years ago had to wait ages for someone to fix anything. Search Engines hard to reach in UK.

If your target visitors are from UK then make sure your website is hosted on a UK based server only. This would help google to categorize your website as a UK website and your website would rank better in google.co.uk. Also, your target clients from UK would get better browsing speed as compared to US server.

Are Bt going to get servers in the U.k.

This is not a problem if you've managed to verify your site with Google Webmaster Tools.

Goto:

Site Configuration > Settings > Geographic Target

Click the tick box and select your preferred country.

Repeat for all of your verified Sites.
