Registering International Domain Names

I’ve already registered www.mydomainname.co.uk on my BT Business Total Broadband account. I would now like to register www.mydomainname.gr as well.

Can I do this through my existing BT account or do I need to register it elsewhere?

BT don't do Greek domain names so you will need to do it elsewhere.

Similar to that, yes. You would register that domain through whatever channel like Dave mentioned and set up hosting on our side and point the domain to our servers. Sales would be able to tell you more when you call but that is those are the main points.

That is definitely an option, you would still set up a hosting account for the new domain and point the domain registration to our servers but then, if you wish, you can point that domain to the existing hosting package.

Just to clarify, you would only need the hsopting set up if you wanted to host an independent web site on this domain. If you simply wanted to redirect to the existing domain, you would not need hosting for it.

Initially I would just redirect to my existing website, although long term I may eventually want to create another site. Does this apply to email aliases as well? (I’m using Microsoft Outlook Web Access)

I guess I can alter the ‘from’ address in my outgoing mail to display the .gr email?

The difficulty now is deciding who to register the domain name with in Greece, are any of the registrars on the list partners of BT?

I doubt any of them will be partners with BT. The following company seems to do a lot of international domains, including .gr if you need to order through an English speaking company.

I have never used them so can't say how reliable they might be.

If you are going to use the .GR domain you can have them make it a domain pointing (if the offer it) and they would ask for the web address (www.domain.co.uk/page.html) where you want the site to redirect.

Hello

A domain name is normally separate from your domain pointing and email redirection, these would be part of your package you get from your host.
