First and foremaost I would report the fault through the residential channels as this tool has been offered to you and all features should work, including the contact form.

This is the first time I have seen a webspace without a CGI-BIN on our systems, but like I said we do not support the residential side.

I can recommend the service and high level of support offered on the BT Business side but there is no reason for you to change your package to ourselves as what you are trying to do should work.

Best to report the fault through the residential tech channel.

If you do wish to move our to BT Business then please let me know and I can assist.

Thanks again.

I have set up a form on my website for comments, using the click-and-drag elements in EasySite Wizard Pro.

When I try out the form, clicking on the SUBMIT button, I get the error message "The requested URL was not found on this server".

What is wrong?

My website is http://www.marshallcolman.com

Thanks.

Marshall

Hi Marshall,

I have found the problem and tried to resolve it by doing the following.

I have tried to send a few tests from your page: http://www.marshallcolman.com/Comments.html

The problem is that in order to send the form it is programmed to use files from the following location: http://www.marshallcolman.com/cgi-bin/SiteSparks/ESW/forms/MailTo.php which returns the error: "The requested URL was not found on this server".

I logged in to your webspace and discovered that it did not contain a cgi-bin folder (listed after your domain above) which needs to be present on your webspace for the form to work.

I created the folder and tried republishing in the hope that the files needed would go into the folder but they have not.

As your domain is on the residential side I am unable to escalate this any further as we only support BT Business and residential is a completely separate line of business.

I would advise, if convenient, to contact BT residential technical support and advise of the problem as see if they can help you.

Apologies, that I am unable to escalate this for you.

If I can be of any further assistance please get back to me.

Regards,

Colin

Thank you, Colin, for your help.

Does this mean that, in order to creat a comment form on my website, I need to upgrade to a business subsription?

Marshall

Dear Colin

On your advice I raised this issue through the residential channel, contacting bt.com/domains support. They passed my query to support@hostingbt.com, which is the appropriate department. Domains Support and I have contacted support@hostingbt.com FOUR TIMES since 18 May, 23 days ago, and they have DONE NOTHING.

I am totally fed up and frustrated about this as however many times I report the fault to them support@hostingbt.com refuse to respond. Who on earth is staffing it?

It is pointless to contact them a fifth time as they will ignore my query again. I would now like to make a formal complaint about the poor service I have received. As you are the only person who has given me any uiseful advice or done anything to help me, I would like to ask your advice about how I make a formal complaint about support@hostingbt.com.

Marshall Colman
