My site doesn't change after an FTP upload

Hi,

I am very new to web design and am using Serif's WebPlus to FTP a simple test page to my site but it doesn't bring about any change. Currently it has a simple announcement on it from BT saying that it has been registered by them. Any idea on what I may be doing wrong please?

Two quick checks:

Are you copying your page to the ../public/ folder on your webspace? That is the first place visible to browsers.

Is your home page called .../index.htm or .../index.html ? That is what a browser will look for first.

Nigel,

That was exactly what was wrong although I did get some prior help from the BT team. I will now looking for a description of a web page logical structure so that I will be better able to understand just what goes on. Thank you for your insight.
