Hi Griffin,

If you have bought a webhosting pack with BT you will have a primary @btconnect.com email address. Go to http://myoffice.bt.com and click on manage services and login as this domain name.

You will see an option to manage domain names, select this, in this section you will get the option to transfer a domain name to BT. If you are transfering a .co.uk domain name you will need to get your current hosting company to change the IPS TAG to BTNAMES, if it is a .com you need a migration code from the currect host.

If you have a website with the current host you will need to download a copy of the website, and then once the domain name is transfered re-upload the website to the the BT hosting pack, as when domain names are transferred between companys, websites and email addresses associated with the domain names do not get moved with the domain name.

I signed up for BT Professional Web hosting and though I had transferred my site BT.

I changed the DNS details at my old web hoster and I have also set the details in advanced domain management but it changes them back.

After being told numerous incorrect things by the so called support, they now tell me that in order to get my website to display at the www location it has always been at that I now need to contact sales@brighthosting.net and buy another product.

Is this really correct?

If so why is no mention made of this in the details of Professional web hosting as you cannot effectively transfer a website as they claim.

Email support just churn out stock answers without addressing issues and the estimated answer time for a call is over 3 hours which is pointless.

regards

Hi

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply.

I've done all of that.

My webiste is now at http://vbadeveloper.co.uk, it is meant to be at www.vbadeveloper.co.uk

BT tell me that I cannot repoint the site to the www location without purchasing another product from sales@brighthosting.net

They are basically saying that Professional web hosting does not allow you to transfer an exsting www without buying another product which they do not state in their advertsing.

If I use the Advanced Domain management and change the www it is changed back the next time I look at it.

Regards
