can't upload to activated webspace - no such file or directory

I have successfully activated my free BT Business web space, receiving the response "Your webspace has been activated successfully."

And when I enter the correct domain name up comes a BT screen with "This domain name has been registered by BT"

But when - as prompted - I try to view the FTP site in Windows Explorer by pressing press Alt, click View, and then click Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer, it comes back with:

"An error occurred opening the folder on the FTP Server. Make sure you have permission to access the folder.

Details:
200: Type set to A
227: Entering passive Mode (209.235.144.30.81,231).
550: No such file or directory"
