FTP Issues - Public cannot be modified

Hi There,

I am trying to upload an index for my friend to the public folder using safari, whenever I drag and drop I get the public cannot be modified message. I have tried doing directly from dreamweaver etc but that opens a whole new world of pain and 550 errors. Any ideas why something that should be so simple is proving such a task?

Update, managed to get my index and the linked images for header and footer up there using dreamweaver. I have deleted the old index file yet I still get the BT splash screen saying this domain has been registered blah blah blah. Any ideas before I advise my friend to use a proper webhosting service?

I am sorry that you are having difficulty with FTP via Dreamweaver and Safari, djbenice.

I'd advise using a "standard" FTP client, such as Filezilla:

http://filezilla-project.org/

Also, web-based FTP such as: http://net2ftp.com works quite well, although the user interface takes a little getting used to.

Have you contacted Adobe support to try and find a solution? I am aware that we have some users who use Dreamweaver very successfully. If you do this and find a solution, I'm sure that other Forum members would be interested.
