I want to change the DNS nameserver pointers for a domain so I can host the website with another hosting company. I starting filling out BT's request form but it mentions email. Currently, the MX records point to my own email server. Once the DNS nameserver pointers are changed, would I loose the MX records as well? Last time I changed hosts, I only had to change the A record so the MX record remained unchanged.

That would actually depend on the hosting service that you are using as some has easily option to change from one hosting service to another.

I think it will not change MX records if you have own server MX record.

Thanks
