Help! PHP HTML suddenly stopped parsing php!

For two years my client's site has been runngin fine, with php includes within html pages. However in the last couple of days, these have suddenly stopped showing! The htaccess has not changed...nothing has been changed at my end to make this happen. Ther are no erros shown on the page - just nothign where the php is suppose dto be, php pages are running fine - it's just the php within html that's not.

I tried a php echo on the page to see if it was just the include suddenly not working and I get nothing! Support are being really slow on this and I am concerned this is going to have issues with teh Google rankings as they site navigation has all disappeared!
