topic DNS manager issues in Archive

A client's domain settings has a couple of issues. I am familiar with DNS, zone files, etc but the BT interface has some features I've not seen before.

The key issue is that the domain root record points to an invalid webhost.

Whilst 'www.domain.com' redirects to the btconnect webspace OK, the @ (domain root) record points to an IP address in the USA (Fort Lauderdale, InternetNamesForBusiness.com) and is grayed out, thus cannot be changed. This USA server 209.235.144.x returns a Forbidden: error code whenever a visitor types a plain 'domain.com' into their browser. This is unacceptable. Most people expect typing the vanilla domain to work these days, so this is basically a broken setup that is losing customers.

I also notice that the MX record has '@' instead of a preference number. Unusual. Is this valid? Don't want to change it if it's meant to be so. However, the client has been having outbound mail problems.
