Help !! Cant upload new website !

ive created a new web site to replace my existing one (created with magix web designer5). New site created using

web plus x6 and ive tried every permutation u could think of for the ftp settings and i keep getting the error message

"An error has occured whilst trying to get the working directory from the ftp server".

Entry fields are

FTP Address ftphost.btconnect.com

port no :21

folder public

username castle-landscapes

password

passive mode- checked

Home page is named index.

Dont know what else to do aaaghhhhhh

Hi sandeno,

If you are trying to upload your website to a paid for hosting pack these are the settings you need:

FTP Address ftp.yourdomain.co.uk

port no :21

folder public

username yourdomain.co.uk

Thanks for the reply but that doesnt work im getting the error message "an error occured whist trying to get the working directory from the FTP server".

Any other replies would be greatly appreciated

Hi Sandeno

What happens when you try to get access via windows rather than FTP client?

Steps are as follows

Right click on the start button

Click Explore

In the folder you should see an address bar, in this type ftp.yourdomain.com (ex, ftp.sandeno.com)

When you press enter you will get an error, this is normal.

Click OK on the error box then right click on any clear space in that window.

Then click "Login as..."

then fire in your full FTP details

Username - your domain (ex, sandeno.com)

thanks for the reply but when trying this the error message "windows cannot access this folder make sure you have typed correctly and you have permission-the connection with server was reset"
