Web Service Problem

Hi,

I've recently implemented an ASP.NET Web Service and installed it, however, when I try and use it, it fails.

The Web Service is working perfectly on my test system, and also at a domain with a different provider.

The error message I get would seem to point to a problem with the BT servers not being configured correctly:

Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1).
error CS2001: Source file 'C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\teewv2fz.0.cs' could not be found

After searching for a solution, it would seem that this is a documented problem that Microsoft know about. The solution is to give the NETWORK SERVICE user system write access to the C:\WINDOWS\TEMP directory on the server. Obviiously I don't have access to this, so I'm unable to proceed!

Can anyone at BT help - or anyone else for that matter? I can't be the only one having this problem!

Thanks in advance.

Ian

Hi,

I contacted the helpdesk on several occasions, and eventually managed to get hold of someone who understood the problem.

The hosting company, Hostopia, eventually implemented a fix and I was able to proceed.

However, this took several weeks and many phone calls, and wasted lots of my time - considering I'd provided the solution on my initial contact with the helpdesk!

For future reference, here is a link to the bug report in the Microsoft knowledge base:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/322886

Regards,

Ian
