ISDN - DIvert from old number - Caller Line Identity Preseantation problem

Hello all,

Having a bit of a problem.

Previous tel number was no. A , new telephone number in a new office tel no. B

ISDN2e installed with CLIP working

All calls forwarded from old tel no A to new tel no. B

Caller C rings new number B and switch presents C's number OR can also present called number (last digits of B) - GREAT !

Caller C rings OLD number A and switch presents C's number OR can also present number B (not called number, but number to which the diversion goes to) - NOT SO GREAT !

The problem is we would like to eduacate our customers ringing the old number that they need to ring the NEW number but with this setup, we cannot recognise those customers ringing the old number A - this is never presented.

Any ideas ?

Hi officiency,

Providing you have Network provided CLIP then this should allow you to receive and display the calling parties line identity (Telephone number) before answering the call. The called party will only receive this information if the caller has not restricted the sending of their number (CLI) and if they have subscribed to the CLIP service.

Where CLIP is provided on ISDN2e circuits, the information sent may be in the ETSI compliant form of the National or International number type. For example, telephone number 01234567890 would be sent as number 1234567890 and marked as National number type (0 is the National number prefix). Correctly designed terminal equipment would interpret the number type information, insert the appropriate National or International prefix, and display the number correctly. The terminal would also be capable of storing the number correctly where it is used for redialling missed calls.
CLIs from International calls will only be provided on 64kbp/s data calls where BT has Commercial agreements with the corresponding country.

CLIs are not provided on International speech calls.However if you are using your equipment (CPE) to forward your calls then the number being presented will be that of your previous telephone number as the call is being made to this equipment and then the call is re routed from the CPE thus presenting the old number.

Thanks for your reply.

However, there is no problem with restriction. It is the number which is being presented that is the issue.

BT seem to present the callers original number(before the diversion) OR the final destination number (the number to which calls are diverted).

We would like the number originally called by by the caller (which is not the final destination number as the diversion must first take effect)

Hi Officiency,

If I understand you correctly then regardless of whether your customers are calling the A or B number, if Network Call Forwarding is enabled the CLI of caller C will be presented. If the Object of the exercise is to educate your customers to dial the new telephone number you can do this by applying CNI to number A then you would be able to inform your customers of the new number.
