topic 1571 Simply Won't Work on Phone in Archive

We have an old phone on our business line, a BT Graphite 2100, and since moving in June of this year, its impossible to get the 1571 service on it. This was never a problem in the past when we had a residential line. This has happened since moving to a business line.

Repeated requests for the service and help have got me nowhere. You can't call out on the phone until you dial "9" first, but when I pick up the handset I hear a dial tone and a quick "blip-blip" sound. The blip only sounds once.

Picking up the handset and dialing 1571 does nothing. Picking up the handset, dialing 9 and then 1571 gets me a recording that says voicemail has not been activated on the line. I don't know if its the line or the phone. Despite the phone being old, I'm reluctant to buy/rent a new model without assurances that the 1571 service will actually work on it.
