email not reaching me - MX or A record problem

I am a BT business customer; my hosting is done by Othello Hosts.

I have had people report that when trying to email me they are getting returned & I am not getting the email.

The domains effected are:

mustoskiff.com

force5marketing.co.uk

f5m.co.uk

Given I know it is happening on these 3 I susepect other domains on my account are also experiencing the same problem.

Below is an example error message passed on to me by a client. Some email is getting through.

What is an MX or A record?

My hosts have told me this is a BT issue and they have had no joy getting BT to address this problem.

Where do I turn?

How do I log a fault with BT I just get left on hold ... is there a website where I can log a support ticket?

Does a host "rick" exist in this domain? Whoever is responsible for hosting your mail server, they should be the one responsible for fixing this. I can ping your three domains fine.

Hi,

The A record is for pointing your domain to a website. It's the MX (Mail eXchange) that deals with your email.

If there isn't an MX record, then you ain't going to get anything.

That is the error message people get from BT/Yahoo.

My host says:

Your MX record in full is "force5marketing.co.uk IN MX 10 mail.force5marketing.co.uk.". The 10 signifies the priority when there are multiple MXs listed and the IP is what mail.force5marketing.co.uk resolves to.

I'm inclined to believe my hosting company; they say this impact everyone equally and they have raised this with Yahoo a number of times ... but no fix ....

Does anyone have a phone number or contact for the postmaster or ops department of BT/Yahoo?

I have spent hours on the phone to poorly trainined Indian front line support staff who don't understand the issue and just keep going round & round through what they have been trained to say but don't have the broarder knowledge needed to fix this issue ...

Help ...
