Hi there,

To be honest a good few ISP's don't block port 25. But the ones that do generally will allow you to send through their outgoing server instead. Contact them direct and they should allow this and provide the settings.

Thanks,

Steve

The Internet standard track for email submission is to use port 587.

Many Internet service providers block port 25.

Why does not smtp.btconnect.com get its act together and turn on port 587 for authenticated email submissions?

Hi Thgherde,

BT is in the process of changing to Office365 Product, This changes the port from 25 to 587, obviously we don't know the ins and outs of their platform so there may have been other reasons why they aren't allowing port 587 traffic VIA Smtp.btconnect.com,

They are running a Mirapoint Messaging Server appliance with very recent software. The only reason they are not supporting port 587 is because they block it by firewall or disable it in the administration interface. It should be a 5 minute fix.
