Email set up for iPhone 5?

Without doubt it is clear that people have always had problems setting up BTconnect email to an iPhone. However, I really do need help specific to the iPhone 5. I have followed instructions from Orange, BT Business and forum responses but none of them seem to help me send email???! Or more specifically reply to email!!!

Has anybody successfully set there phone up, to send emails without receiving the message 'a copy has been placed in your outbox. the recipient 'myemail@btconnect.com' was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying'

If anyone can help with this you will be branded a star for-ever, or at least until the iPhone 5s is launched 🙂

Hi DanA,

I think the guides are usually ok for this, do you know if you have been upgraded to office 365?

I think the setting you are missing will be:

Go to: Settings - mail contacts, calendars - highlight the account - outgoing server - primary server - Ensure your btconnect.com address and passwords are in the optional fields.

While there, check that (again if upgraded) hostname:smtp.outlook.com

port 587

SSL: On

Authentication: Password

Here is a the procedure I used to set up an Iphone 5S.

Please let me know how you get on.

Go to Settings

Go to Settings
Select ‘Mail, Contacts , Calendars’
Select ‘Add Account’
Select ‘Other’
Select ‘Add Mail Account’
Name: <Your Name>
Email: <User>@btconnect.com
Password: (The password you use to retrieve your Emails)
Description: Btconnect (Which may appear automatically)
Press Next (You will most likely be presented with an on-screen message that reads;
The POP server pop3@btconnect.com is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the “Incoming Mail Server” field.

Press OK anyway, then edit the following tabs.
INCOMING MAIL SERVER
Host name: pop.outlook.com
Username: (Your Email address as Point 6)
Password: (Your Password as point 6)
OUTGOING MAIL SERVER
Host name: smtp.outlook.com
Username: (Your Email address as Point 6)
Password: (Your Password as Point 6)
Press Return. This should now save and verify your new settings.
Check that email now works both ways.
