Try unpluging your live adsl line from the socket wait a couple of mins and plug back in. It worked for me and mine has been stable for almost 2 days now. A vast improvement since my upgrade on the 3rd. Previously I was lucky with 10mins of stability at a time without powering down and restarting.etc.etc....... JiC

Hi there,

I had someone technical look at the settings and they say that they would be fine for our Business Hub (unable to advise for 3rd party equipment) so shouldn't be an issue. I have sent you a Private Message regarding this. You can access this by logging into the forum and then clicking on the envelope symbol in the top right of the screen. Thanks.

no reply yet from the email but heres my experience over the weekend in case it helps someone

Tried the router with alternative ADSL firmware E.67.3.61 (as suggested by draytec) (including putting the modulation on the recommended ADSL2+ Auto(G.992.5)

Ran from Fri 6pm

All looking good stable and some speed increase (20%), checked saturday all not bad (a few uncorrected blocked maybe 400)

Sunday evening internet not working, checked router and there were 3.5 million uncorrected blocks!

I noticed the SNR was down to 12.5 from a recorded 16 17

So now im back on the normal ADSL firmware (E.38.2.23 annex A )and the old modulation G.DMT, just to get it stable.

What is going on.

I hope BT get back to me today

thanks

great im getting answers from Draytec to try other ADSL firmware codes namely

E.67.02.52 & .55

Its unbelivable, its a lottery as to what ADSL firmware will work best!

So there are many manufacturers and many ISPs, that makes alot of combinations

Surely ADSL2+ is ADSL2+ or were all doomed!

So BT, what 'settings' are you using for my ADSL2+ so i can choose the correct ADSL firmware to match your ADSL2+

Or do you want me to keep trying other firmwares to see if one happens to match?

Wouldnt be so bad if testing took 10 mins, but last firmware i tried to 3 days to totally bomb out, on a Sunday night, which required an office visit by me to swap routers to the old settings.

Im getting a little annoyed.

Hi there,

The 2800 seems to have an issue with INP (Impulse Noise Protection) or Interleaving which has 5 settings, off and INP1, 2, 4, and 8. There are a few posts were it's suggested the 2800 doesn't support INP2...whether you are on that by default I don't know but I'm trying to find out how to check. But the problems with this seem to match yours.

So you could call BT tech and request that interleaving is turned off, a fault would need to be raised to wholesale to get this done for you but tech do definately do it.

You could also try the new 3.3.4 firmware and change the modulation setting to Annex M, some users have reported better performance and stability with this setting, even although the ISP doesn't support it.

Here is a link to the supported firmware for ADSL2+ in the UK, its V2.8.2...I think you mentioned it earlier though.

Heres a link to some interesting forum posts on drayteks site (you have to sign up but its worth it)

Thanks

Appreciate the replies.

I see no 3.3.5 firmware, nothing new from when i started looking 2 months ago

Im not looking for better performance, im looking for a signal that stays ON, that doesnt drop 20 times a day.

I havent even got to the performance yet.

Clearly ADSL2+ upgrade was too early. Its not been tested enough.

it's 3.3.4 and I was talking about the dropping connection...the reason it's dropping is because the router can't handle the higher frequency that ADSL2 runs on and is also incompatable with the type of interleaving that 'could' be on your line, the forum posts I linked should back that up. Turning interleaving off may improve it...it's worth a try.
