Last week I was told by 3 different BT employees that the quota for a small business sending email messages is "about 50 at at time" , "50 at a time and to wait about 15 minutes before sending more emails" and " 50 emails per hour".... very confusing. Eventually I got through to someone who seemed confident in what he was saying and was told that the limits are 30 per minute and sent me a link to details of this.

My question is what does the "50 emails" relate to - this was mentioned by more than one member of BT staff so it looks like they are all referring to the same thing - I can't find this in any terms and conditions anywhere - please can you point me in the right direction.

If it is the case that 30 emails per minute can be sent - is it possible to increase this number and how do I go about it? Does it need an upgrade of account of some kind?

I have a mailing list of about 500 to 700. I Send large emails in groups. I use outlook express 6 and a different provider ( not BT ). The quota limits via outlook express 6 are abot 200 emails a day. If I send via their website it goes up to a daily limit of about 500.

Can I send larger quantities through BT ? ( I still have my old account and am considering moving back )

Message Size Limits

The message size limit for Exchange Online is 25MB, including attachments. This size limit is a global setting that applies to all messages (that is, inbound, outbound, and internal) and can’t be amended.

Messages larger than 25MB will not be delivered, and the sender will receive a Non-Delivery Report (NDR).

Message size limits are necessary to prevent large messages from negatively affecting system performance and to ensure fast message delivery for all users.

Recipient size limits

These limits apply to emails sent within an organisation as well as to messages delivered to external organisations.

Each Exchange Online mailbox can send messages to a maximum of 1500 recipients per day.
An email message can be addressed to a maximum of 500 recipients.

To stop users from sending unsolicited bulk messages, Exchange Online has restrictions that prevent users and applications from sending large volumes of email.

To send legitimate bulk commercial email (for example, customer newsletters) you should use third-party providers that specialise in these services.

Message Rate Limits

To maintain service and help guard against inappropriate use, users can send only 30 messages per minute.

If you submit messages at a faster rate, Exchange Online will deliver the messages but will queue them at the server and will manage the rate of delivery.

Hi,

I have a customer that last week says she could send out to approximately 120 recipients in the email To box, she sends out a 1 page pastoral word document. Yesterday she tried sending out the email again, but this time she got the Server error: '452 too many recipients' bounce back.

She is using outlook with a BT Internet pop account. Has any changes been made over the weekend that would cause this, or has she just been lucky in the past?

The BTInternet service is part of the residential services, sadly business don't get kept informed of any changed to ther network,

If you contact the Residential support forum, http://community.bt.com/ they should be able to Inform you about any changed to the Mail platform,
