Hi,

I have a BT hosted domain which I very simply use as an email forwarding domain so that if I change ISP, I don't have to change my email address. This has worked fine for many years, but I just noticed this week that it has stopped working. When I try to send email to this address, depending on where I send it from, it either just disappears into a black hole, or I get an "Relay Access Denied" rejection.

I have been into the BT Email settings, and it appears that the email is correct set up to auto forward. However, I did notice that things have changed, in that my primary email address when I log in has changed to this domain email, and my BTconnect address has been demoted to an address that says "original BT Connect address". I did not change this at all, so BT must have done this. It appears that BT have made some major changes to the way this all works recently.

I also found that if I try to reset the forwarding rule on my primary email to a different email address, it will not let me do so, and I get "email forwarding details update failed".

Further, if I log into the email on this account and look at the email inbox, even though I logged in with the new primary user email address, the username on the email box still shows my old btconnect address.

If I change the email forwarding rule on the BTconnect address, that does work successfully.

However if I try to create a new user against my domain, it takes a long time and then fails with "error assigning license".

I was able to have a bried online chat with BT just before they closed last night. The support person informed me that this is because "the account that this domain is linked to has been closed down due to non payment". This doesn't make sense because I can log into the account, and it is on a direct debit and the last payment was taken from my bank account 4 days ago. I did incur a late payment charge about 6 months ago because I never received the email prompting me to pay, but when I found out about the issue I called BT and paid everything off, and set up a direct debit. I have also found that I can successfully change the domain settings in the domain maintenance screens to redirect the web site, and this works fine. It is only the email part that is not working.

Furthermore, the forwarding was definitely working until 28th March because I have emails in my inbox that were clearly forwarded from the mydomain address up to that date.

Any ideas?

cheers

Patrick.
