Dumb Newbie Question(s)...

Hi Everyone,

Background - one of my customers had a fire, got a new building, has decided to move back to BT for the BB and Phones, they have given me the challenge of sorting out there phones along with the server's etc. (If anyone has a copy of the toshiba ctx software please pm i need a copy for a toshiba ctx100)

New Setup -

6 phones on PSTN phone system, and a BT HG2700 router (i hate these things), and a Fusion Mobile.

What they would like to do is be able to use the HG2700 to use for outgoing calls; so thats what the Fusion Mobile phone is for correct? you get unlimited calls to uk land lines and mobiles.

HOWEVER they want to plug 2 phones in to the HG2700 unit as well - so what do i need to do this ie do i need to tell bt i want VOIP or anything like that adding to the package?

I think I might, connect the 2 sockets in to the phone system so when they dial out on line 4 and 5 it goes via the HG2700 unit.. has any one done anything like this before and has any pointers..

So to recap....

Q1 - what do i need to do or tell bt for them to run 2 phones off the HG2700

Q2 - cost Benfits of doign the above

Q3 - has anyone linked a PBX to a HG2700 before?

Hi Ry,

If I understand your question correctly, you would like to run two VoIP lines off the HG2700, taking your total number of lines to 8.

You can do this with ‘Broadband Voice’, our standard business VoIP package. Find out more about Broadband Voice.

Cost benefits include cheap line rental and capped international rates.

If you select the ‘Broadband Voice Plus’ tariff, your local and national calls are free (subject to the fair use policy) and you can also currently select a free geographic number to apply to your VoIP line.

Due to the large range of PBX and switch systems in the market, BT is unable to currently offer support on using these 3rd party products with Broadband Voice.

Hey Ryan,

It's not a dumb newbie question - you're actually trying to do some advanced stuff here!

What's the PBX you want to use? I think your success will really depend on the make and model. Some will work better than others, although from my viewpoint you'll be creating more work for yourself if you want to bolt it all together!
