Hi

Thanks for the reply , and while I understand the reasons for not reccomending 3rd party routers BT are best placed to advise on what features a router would need to work with their service.

Also I disagree with your last statement as you presumably tested the Buisness Hub and you take no responsibility for how bad a product that is.

Regards

Paul

Hi

Does anyone know of a 3rd party router that will work with BT's hosted voip service?

The buisness hub we have keeps losing it's settings so looking to replace with a decent router.

Cheers

Paul

Hi

Anyone from BT fancy answering this??

Really need a reliable router that doesn't loose it's settings every other day , but need to use BT VOIP too.

If I can't get an answer I think the only other option is to cancel our broadband and hosted voip on the grounds that it is not fit for purpose.

Any suggestions??

Paul

Hi Fifex

Unfortunately we can not recommend any 3rd party routers, the reasons for this mainly goes down to support we have not tested other company's Hardware and would be liable if we recommend their products.

Regards

Sean

You would need to open up UDP port 5060 for both inbound and outbound VOIP traffic to go through the router.

The router must support Sip ALG, as this polls the VOIP servers every 52 minutes, I believe that if this does not work correctly the polling bombards the server every 11 seconds this would result in the service being compromised and may cease to work.
