topic Getting Quotes for BT work in Archive

I am trying to change our Samaritan's office phone system so that we can replace an ancient switch board and install broadband.

The whole installation and lines are provided and rented from BT.
We would love to keep all our system with them but we need a quote of the costs involved.

Our customer manager at BT insists that BT will only offer to do the work on a "time based" charge, which of course could be unlimited, and that even to just provide us with a quote will also incur an uncapped cost based on a minimum of £85 call out and £90 per hour.
This seems like madness or Catch22 as we need to know the cost to decide whether it is economically viable and to request funding from a donor, who may help us, but needs to know how much they could be committing themselves to.

Any ideas of any other source of an estimate?
