looks like the router on the Andover connection is set not to respond to ICMP ping requests,

"No I dont want to restart my endpoint kit I don't want to reconfigure my connections and all three site are receiving and send email and have internet access. "

You are stuffed then. The Andover router probably isnt replying to ping requests like i said thats why the tracert doesnt complete. the hop it last replies at will be your home gateway. then the next stop is the router.

If you can get internet and email on the 3 sites.... well done. all it means is that outbound traffic is working.

remote desktop is an inbound request that requires a port opened on the Andover router.

Sorry try again

I can't get ping or tracert or an RDC. The whole lot stops in the same place not even close to the address of the router

(Which obviously I don't want to give you)

The router is set not to quench ICMP its a firewall, oh and it been happily working for 5 years now. A linux ICOp box at that... Normally I can ping and trace to it. Thanks for the reply

I do need to find out a better faster way to get to the BT Broadband platform support

when you say it stops in the same place are you referring to the tracert above?

if so then its stopping at the connection.

ping wont work.

it still looks like ping being blocked on the connection to me. this can be by a firewall at any point in your private network route.

I'd say contact support desk but TBH they are not going to understand you and will probably refer you to thier chargeable IT support desk

It stop at the same IP address tracert from Three different sites

The site we are trying to connect to is working connected to the internet through the firewall connection. It all works apart from the facts

1) No Remote Desktop connection via that firewall

2) Yes the firewall has been restarted

3) Ping no response

4) Tracert fails at a point in the BT Network which is a long way a way from the endpoint

This is not the first time and I doubt it will be the last. No I dont need 'pay as u go' technical support from BT on a problem which I can not resolve as it is once again a fault within the BT network

at 213.120.178.132

The are two paths you can go by (but there is still time to change the path you are on)

1) Is the private curcuit

2) Is the one across the internet (BT serviced)

Pinging the DNS name of the Server will get the others servers once I have connected to the Network (via the private curcuit) Cisco routers/firewalls

The other way it does'nt

But Having just checked it again well strange its working now, so thats a fix,(for a while) maybe the Gods of BT are listening to the humble supplications of a lone IT engineer

Thanks Bye
