We have three windows 7 laptops at work and 4 XP machines. The XP laptops get wireless internet immediately through the BT Business hub. The 3 windows 7 laptops get connection to the hub, with an IP adress, but no internet. They all work perfectly elsewhere with other hubs. If I do a diagnosis of the fault it comes up with "The DNS Server is'nt responding"

I have TCP/IP V6 and TCP/IP V4 installed and set to obtain automatically and also obtain DNS server automatically. This is the normal setting when the hub is set as a DHCP server.

What is wrong with the hub setting? Or is it a BT problem?

PS: all laptops connect perfectly via the wired LAN.

sounds like a router issue with the wireless.

the wireless network name you connected to should be BTBusinessHub-XXX

if you connected to "BTOpenzone" or "BTFusion-6XXX" then that is probably why you get this issue.

if you are connected to the correct network can you confirm the ip starts 192 not 169

if it starts 169 you have entered the wrong wep code. i dont suspect this to be the issue tho

unfortunately the IP address is shown as 192.168.0.107, which I am sure is correct. So that is not the answer.

I have noticed that when I plug in the LAN line then I get internet connectivity on both the wired and the wireless connection, but as soon as I pull out the wired connection I lose connectivity on the wireless as well, even though the wireless connection to the hub remains good.

hub doesnt require a factory reset.

the ip 192.168.0.107 is for a different range.

BT router gives out 192.168.1.x

when wireless + wired is connected look at the ip the wired uses and let me know what it is.

wireless doesnt work when wire is in. the wire just overrides it
