Unknown Email alias appears in my BT Mail From field drop down

Please help.

I'm sure I didn't set up an email alias in my account - can BT or will BT have done this?

Also after a few mail crashes - when my mail screen s aid BT having problems several of the people in my contact list have received spam emails supposedly from my account name (not email address).

Should I delete the unknown alias?
