Hi,

I am currently developing my eShop site and associated marketing, and have encountered some confusion in how my website is accessed. In eShop software under General Settings my homepage domain is described as eshop.mydomain.co.uk.

I can successfully browse to my website at http://www.mydomain.co.uk, or http://eshop.mydomain.co.uk or just http://mydomain.co.uk.

When browsing in IE8 or Firefox 3.6, if I do not use the eshop prefix then the URL never changes as I move between pages and products, but remains at http://www.mydomain.co.uk or http://mydomain.co.uk.

I would like to use Short URLs to direct my customers to a specific page within the site. At present if I use the eshop prefix my browser shows the full URL in the format http://eshop.mydomain.co.uk/epages/BT1234.sf/..

I can manually type the short URL name after the domain name in this format and I will land on my required page. However if I try to browse the the short URL with the www prefix I get a HTTP 404 error. If I do use the eshop prefix and I mis-type the Short URL then I land on a smart "The requested page does not exist" page, with a link back to my homepage.

I have 3 questions:

1. How can I have my site display the www prefix instead of the eshop prefix on all my pages, followed by the remainder of the URL?

2. How can I setup my eshop to allow input of the short URL with a www prefix?

3. Can I have my site display the Short URL in the address bar, instead of the /epages/BT1234.sf/..... URL?

NB. In BT Website Manager I have my domain set to point to my shop, rather than Link Shop To Website which I believe would create the eshop prefix.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Regards,

Ian
