Hi I am the webmaster of www.grink.co.uk

can any body help me to get rid of the tail of the url for example the site www.grink.co.uk shows up as http://www.grink.co.uk/epages/BT4136.sf the part /epages/bt4136.sf is anoying but strangly it dose not appear in all the pages url but it dose in most for example

one of the products DR3100 toner has 2 links which is very strange

Hi Morteza,

There's no real way around this unfortunately.

What you are seeing is the epages server referring to the shop (this bit : epages/BT4136.sf) and then creating the pages (this bit :

Products/%22Brother%20DR3100%22&View...), the pages don't actually exist on the server (they are created on the fly from the information held within the customers section of the database)

Unfortunately that's just the way the product works..

There is a way to do this by accessing the generate short url facility.

The feature allows you to either automatically create the short URLs (otherwise known as the canonical metatag) for all pages in the shop (i.e. products and pages/categories) or to do this manually in every product/page/category. The manual settings can be found in the products detail page (tab "General -> Prices/Inventory/Delivery") and in the page/category detail page in the "General" tab.

Furthermore, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft are now supporting the canonical metatag as the standard for identifying the actual source of your content: the real URL that you want to receive page rank for your key terms.
