Thanks. Whatever it was, someone at BT seemed to plug something back in somewhere on Friday and all is now well again. So our mutual customers are happy again. 🙂

Not sure the guys on that thread are likely to have "fabricated" that tracert but yes something was clearly not right there and it was getting confused.

Andy

Hi there,

Since Sunday afternoon several of our customers who use BT as their ISP began to report incredibly slow access to our website.

All other users are fine, our site is nice and quick for users accessing via O2, TalkTalk, Nildram, AOL etc. etc. the problem seems to only affect BT customers.

Is there some sort of routing/peering issue within BT at the moment? I found a discussion of the same problem at another site here where a chap has posted a horrendous tracert, showing the issue within BT's network.

Anyone got any more information?

Thanks,

Andy Trump

I.T.

That tracert is probably a fabrication - or the PC/command is at fault. Given that the longest times are nearly 50 days it would take rather a long time for that to be completed.

I use BT and achieve 17 ms to that destination.

It looks like it all went wrong again this morning and our BT customers are once again having to endure very slow connections to our site.

Looking at the 123-Reg thread on here I think the issues our linked.

If one tracerts to 123-Reg, the publishing forum mentioned in my 1st post or our site it always seems to go via gblx.net? I'm not sure if that is relevant though or if it's just that they are a major peering/backbone provider and therefore lots of UK traffic goes via them.

Andy
