Your previous Hub was a 2700 and the new a 2701 - both similar devices with identical firmware. There should not be an issue.

Have you checked that you have selected to appropriate level of wireless security on Hub and Printer? - assuming the printer is a wirelss device.

Can you turn all wireless security off and then try printing ... if that works it points to a WEP/WPA issue.

One work around would be to connect the old 2700 to the new 2701 using an Ethernet cable, after giving the 2700 a fixed IP address and turning DHCP off - there is a sticky post on how to achieve this. Then try to print ...

We had BT Infinity for business installed this morning - it works like a dream.

BUT now our Apple Macs can't print via WiFi to our printer (Brother DCP-6690CW). They did print perfectly over the previous BT WiFi connection (pre-BT Infinity)

The printer and Apple Macs are connected to the BT Infinity WiFi.

We have tried everything - switching things on & off , reinstalling drivers etc.

Any clues how to fix this?

Thanks in advance,

R

If this printer is shared through the network, the IP address settings could have been changed.

First make sure that it is set to DHCP, if not, you can probably contact support and verify the IP range that needs to be set on the printer. It must be pingable from within the network.

You really need to set the printer to be a fixed IP address via the printers front panel - we use the same printers and they are not 100% in this respect.

Then go to Sytem Preferences - Printer and delete the printer completely on ALL of the Macs

Restart the computers

Restart the printer

Then reinstall the drivers on one of the computers.

Then test it.

There is a known issue that the printer will not connect to more than four devices unless you buy the pro lisence for the drivers. The reason that it may be getting stuffed up is that it may still have a memory of the old drivers and possibly still be seeing them (it uses MAC addresses to identify the devices).

To get round this problem all of the devices that our iMac's point towards have a fixed IP address outside of the DHCP range.

I had a similar issue with my Brother MFC-5460CN after moving to BT Internet. Apparently it uses DHCP rather than static IP addresses. After much serching, I found that on the printer LAN menu settings, there was a boot option which was set to Static. I changed this to DHCP and Bingo, the installation went fine and the printer is now working perfectly.

I have heard that if you must use static IP addresses, they can be purchased from BT.
