pFsense with BT Infinity/Openreach modem and multiple IP's?

Hi,

Currently I am using a firewall/router based on pfsense. The WAN port is plugged in to the Openreach modem.

All is working fine. I've configured PPPoE within pfsense and all is well.

The snag is I have paid for a block of static IP's and I would like to configure my pfsense router to use these.

Currently my router is picking up a dynamic address like 81.148.xxx.xxx and is not getting any static IP.

Anybody using a similar setup?

We have a Draytek dual wan unit hooked up to the Modems and this works fine.

Should be just a matter of inputting the relevant IP adresses and masks.

However, we could never get this to work with the Netgear FVX538 that we used to have as our gateway. There is something a bit odd about how the BT fixed IP's work.

Theoretically, it should work. But if you need to manage that firewall remotely, you need to take advantage with the public IP that you have.

I would assign a static IP on it. If you know the pool of IPs, just select one and set it in the WAN interface.
