Convert residential line

Hi,

I currently have a BT residential line, with company paid-for, BT-provided broadband activated on it.

As the company is terminating this service, I was looking to migrate to my own BT Business broadband package, having been given my MAC - as a permanent home worker, I need to have the terms of service of a business rather than a "home" user.

Is it possible to have a business package activated on the current line? Looking at the ordering options on the website, it's not *that* obvious whether this is possible. There is a business operating on the premises by my other half so as a worst case, it could be used to register a line/package...

Any one got any thoughts on this as I don't want/need a second phone line (and line rental payment!) in the property since there already is a perfectly acceptable one already!!

Cheers.

Yes, it is perfectly acceptaable to have a Business ADSL or VDSL service on a residential line - I have had that for about 11 years.

With te right person at BT it should be easy enough to effectively transfer ownership of the Broadband service from your employer directly to you/your wife as a business. Call te Broadband Helpdaesk - DO NOT try to do it on line.

Put it in your wife's name - and as she operates from the house (for business) it becomes a legitimate business cost.

Sales. I, like MHC, have had business internet provided on a domestic line for years. I get separate billing for phone and internet as a result. I have requirement for static IP, amongst other things and this is only offered to business connections. Should be trivial to set up.
