topic WiFi Access Point in Archive

I have established a couple of Wireless Access Points in our Golf Clubhouse off our BT Business Hub (2701HGV-C). Both emit a strong signal which mobile devices (laptops, mobiles, tablets) can 'see'. Sometimes it is possible to connect straight away, other times it takes several goes and often a device appears to connect but can't obtain an IP Address and therefore won't connect to the Internet. Anybody got any suggestions?

Peter

How are your WAPs linked to your BT Business Hub? By Ethernet cable or as wireless repeaters? Also, your WAPs should not be running DHCP servers - this should be left to your BT hub to guarantee your mobile devices get an IP, default router and DNS resolver addresses compatible with your BT hub. It sounds very much like your mobile devices are sometimes getting network addresses assigned by your WAPs instead of your BT hub.

Andy
