Hey Mark, thanks for the reply.

Doing that would give my whole network one (static) IP Address, which isn't good for me. I need the one sever to have It's static IP, then the rest of the network to be dynamic as normal.

Thanks anyway though.

Ollie.

Hey, I've recently upgraded my BT business router to a Buffalo Airstation running DDWRT. So far I've setup the router to obtain a dynamic IP, however I want to setup a single server with the same static IP address that it had before.

In the BT business router I had it setup as follows (IP's Censored for security):

Router Address: 111.11.111.118

Subnet Mask: 255:255:255:248

Allow Ping: Yes.

Then on the Server ifconfig was setup as follows:

eth0 inet addr:111.11.111.113 Bcast:111.11.111.119 Mask:255.255.255.248

lo inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0

I'm not entirely sure of what to configure on the DDWRT firmware to mimmic this setup

so far I've configured "Advanced Routing" as follows:

Operating Mode: Gateway

Set Number: 1 (Server)

Route Name: Server

Metric: 1

Destination LAN NET: 111.11.111.113

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.248

Gateway: 111.11.111.118

Interface: WAN

But so far no luck, if anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.

Hi ogroves,

If you have a single static IP on your business broadband account, as long as the router is using the correct username and password for the line, we auto assign the static IP to the router when it connects and logs in.

Then all you would need to do is port forward from the router over to your server.

If you would like support setting up an non BT router, you can contact our IT Support Managers (ITSM) on 0800 500 247 but they are a chargeable service.

Hi Ollie,

Its worth while mentioning that BT provide multiple static ips for the same price as a single static. This would give you a dynamic on the network and allow you to apply multiple IPs to different devices, It sounds alot easier than setting up the single static to a single device, which as far as i am aware can only be done on a teir 3 router

Hope this helps

Hey Burkem,

I have a range of 8 static IP's from BT but I'm having trouble setting them up. I've only started with one for testing but plan to use them all once this is sorted out.

If that was what you meant, anyway.
