I have just received a replacement router (original was dropping connection freqently). Everything is set up and working with no problems that I can see, but I notice now there are additional entries in the routing tables which (I think) I have not seen before. They are:-

Subnet IP Subnet Mask Gateway IP Interface

192.168.178.254 255.255.255.255 192.168.178.254 bridge3

192.168.178.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.178.254 bridge3

In the event log, I can see on startup :-

INF P0000-00-00T00:00:22 sys ipnet3: Up on bridge3 with 192.168.178.254/24192.168.178.254

Following that, after attempting a ping to an address on that subnet there is an entry :-

INF 2009-06-16T09:03:49+01:00 fw,fwmon src=192.168.1.64 dst=192.168.178.210 ipprot=1 icmp_type=8 icmp_code=0 Traffic from home to VAP1 network dropped

So what is 192.168.178 and the VAP1 network? Is this something new, or did I just miss seeing it on the old router?

BT support couldn't tell me. I only ask in case this could affect my private network security.

its the BT FUSION network.

sometimes people wirelessly connect to it instead of BTBusinessHub-xxx

it has a different subnet.

it causes several issues especially with file sharing if pcs are cabled or wireless to the BTBusinessHub-xxx. effectively they cant see eachother on the LAN
