Hi mhcwedesign,

I have passed your details onto the 2 sales teams to contact you, the first one to get a quote for a bonded service and to our leased lines team so that you can compare the prices.

At the moment BT are still running on IPV4, we have not been advised to when we will be moving to IPV6 as of yet.

We have tried in vain during the past few weeks to get a quote from BT for the following:

6 ADSL2+ lines, bonded, with annex-M, 1 static IP-address, no voice telephony package

Calling the 0800 800 152 simply never leads to any followups or answers.

Is BT still selling this kind of telecom services? Before someone asks why we don't order fibre broadband it is simply not available in our town of 10 000, and won't be for the next few years to come. So we are trying to get a quote for above alternative service, in order to figure out whether it is suitable, or whether it makes more sense to move office to another town where more appropriate telecom services exist.

Hi,

we do sell bonded lines with ADSL2+ but we don't sell Annex M, if you can send me a private message with your contact details with your company name and address, I can get a member of the specialist team team that deals in bonded lines to give you a call.

Instead of 6 ADSL2+ lines have you thought about just 1 leased line instead, as it is more relaible with a better service level guarantee and back up services?

Markp

A leased line, which we were told you can't even provide in our town (but some other providers could!), would be 5 to 10 times more expensive, more than £3000 per month a for simple 100mbps fibre line. Hence, at this price level it would make much more sense for us to move our office elsewhere where other telecom companies can provide better fibre broadband lines.

A fibre-optic broadband line, or even a simple business VDSL line, would have been sufficient, but isn't available from your company as you don't serve small towns, hence our enquiry for bonded ADSL2+ lines.

Are you sure you can't even do annex-M?

No, BT Business Broadband do not have any Annex M product available at this time.

OK, thank you. In that case, can you give us a quote for let's say at least 10 ADSL2+ bonded lines? Or ANYTHING with at least 10 to 15 mbps upload speeds?

I am quite surprised to learn that BT doesn't seem to provide business broadband services in smaller towns, we were always under the impression that BT is a big telecoms company.

We are trying to figure out whether we can grow our business at our current location, or whether it makes more sense to move office to where someone can provide suitable broadband office telecom services.

Thank you Mark for your help.

A BT representative has got in touch with us and hopefully will send us some quotes.

From what it looks like though, BT does indeed NOT offer normal office telecom services in our town. We were given conflicting information about the availability of IPv6 and annex-M, so I think it's back to square one, trying to get some more reliable information.

As it stands, we'll probably have to move office for the time being, and/or find another telecoms provider who can actually offer more professional business telecom services.

OK., now its more than 2 weeks ago, and we still have no definite answer to our question:

Is BT still selling ADSL2+ lines?

In particular, we have conflicting answers to our questions on:

- IPv6 support

- Annex-M support

Surely someone from BT should know what they can actually sell to their potential customers.

Also, we never got any promised quotes for alternative leased line options.

If BT is not interested in selling business telecom services, then please be so kind and let us know, so we won't have to waste our time here.

Now it's 3 weeks ago since we first posted here.

Our basic questions remain unanswered, one of the quotes we requested never came, so we can safely assume that

BT is NOT doing business telecom services

anymore in our town. We therefore have decided to go with another company which, unlike BT, does office telecom links which don't go through the BT exchange.

Overall. BT has made an unprofessional impression, it does not seem to have the required skills nor the resources for offering normal office telecom services.

It is clear that BT is not doing business telecom services in our town. That's why we never got the requested quotes from BTnet.

What still puzzles me is why BT is doing everything it can in order NOT to gain new customers or business.

We have never seen such an incompetence with a sales team in any other company but BT. BT simply does not act like a normal business. Thankfully, this forum has convinced us that we are better off going with another telecom company.
