topic VSDL and Business Hub 5 connection drops in Archive

I've had people inspect the connection from BT - and an engineer from Openreach reset the connection. The connection is deemed to be OK - and working 'normally'. This is a VDSL line - fibre to cabinet.

However the Hub continues to drop connections - the log says:

PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request]

so it's the hub deciding to do this. What happens next is that it comes back up without doing a full restart - so it's usually reasonably quick - and generally with the same speed as before. Although the line speeds seem to degrade over time - I started after the reset at 35Mb and am now down to 32Mb.

A guy I spoke to on the BT help desk said it was happening to him too - so it's out there as a problem for others. He seemed OK that his TV connection broke from time to time.

This may be the same problem that's reported on the Domestic forum back at the start of the year - the discussion was closed down by BT with loud disclaimers about 'get your lines tested' much to people's annoyance. Well my line has been tested and has been pronounced good.

So - how MANY people out there with Business Hub 5 (or Home hub 5 - it's the same beast I understand) are having line drops? How many people with VDSL connections are getting unexplained line drops? It's annoying to me because I use live ssh connections which suddenly disappear at mostly very inconvenient points.

Can BT perhaps start putting a coherent message about WHY the hub is doing this into the logs - so there's a chance of it being fixed - making VDSL into a reliable service?
