Broadband intermitant faul

BT enters my house through the front wall into a box which has one line coming out of the back of the box and wandering around up into the loft and then through to the five telephone points.

A plug point exists on the front of the plug into which a mail point is exuded a cable onto the floor, up into the loft and down into my tower point from which it plugs into my computer.

Is it possible for a normal mortal to check my lines and equip[ment?
