To BT - OK you don't offer SQL Server (although you do not say why not if you're able to offer .Net 3.5 as the two go more or less hand in hand). However, I do know you can access MySQL databases from .Net, but you do need the MySQL ODBC driver installed on the server, so... is this driver installed?

It does restrict the complexity of the SQL strings you can use and, of course, you cannot use stored procedures, but at least it works.

If this driver isn't installed, why not? - in its absence you're effectively saying that .Net programmers are being denied access to any database, which, as you know, is the backbone and essential element of any web application.

Can somebody tell me if BT supports both of the above technologies so my website can work?

Hi.

Just as Dave said, there is MySQL. This comes in several packages. Feel free to upgrade your hosting package anytime

Can you believe a company like BT does not offer MS SQL server. MYSQL is cheap and sometimes not

user friendly. The easy integration that Microsoft builds into its development tools makes building powerfull web sites easy and a joy to use. Then you come across BT web hosting. If you consider the mess of BTs own web sites, the poor and unhelpful customer support anyone considering using BT web hosting should be advised to look elsewhere.

There are plenty of good professional web hosting providers so shop around.

Hi StuartHX,

Most of this is down to the properties of the packages that we offer, however in regards to the query about ODBC driver, you would need to have advanced hosting and we need to have this configured on the account before it can be used.

Normally this is done via a contact to the tech support desk. They would be able to arrange this for you.

Thanks in advance
