Hi jonno01,

What you would need to do is to obtain your MAC code for your business account, once you have this you then call your new service provider and provide them with your MAC code. This is so they can transfer the service without disruption.

As you are opting for BT Residential, you can place an order online. There is an option for your MAC code to be entered. If you would prefer to do this over the phone you can call them on 0800 800 150.

Hope this is of help

Thanks

I've left my employer, who paid for a business broadband line to my residential address. I have always paid for ordinary(voice) phone line on same number. Old employer has told me that I can transfer broadband so that I pay it simply by ringing BT. They tell me that in order to transfer from a business account paid for by company to a residential braodband paid for by me, I must get company to cancel service and get a MAC code. I must then start from scratch (once broadband line stops working) to order a residential broadband - this will take five working days and I will be without broadband at all during this time. Is this really correct -if you transfer broadband supplier they are supposed to do it without interruption to service -so why five days?

Also does anyone know if I can keep my btconnect e-mail address (which came with business service) or will that suddenly stop working when the business broadband is cancelled?

Jonno

Hi Tracey

I'm in similar situation to Jonny but in my case I dont want to transfer the same package (BT Business Broadband) that my company pays for. I want to transfer to a residential package (BT Total Broadband) so I have Wi-Fi.

Like Jonno my company currently pays for the business broadband but I pay for the phone line.

Spent 45 mins on phone to BT who say they have filled in a 'request to transfer form' and sent it to dept who deals with transfer to residential who will contact me in "28 days" to make arrangements (why 28 days??).

Is this correct or could I get the company to cancell the Business Broadband and ask for the MAC code, then can I get BT Residentail to transfer the BT Business Broadband to the BT Total Broadband package I am after??

Would appreciate your guidance.

Thanks

Mike
