trouble setting up server

hello people.

not sure if this is the right place to post, so i'm sorry if it is.

right..........

i've installed windows server 2008 on a spare computer but i haven't a clue what to do with it.

my goal is to run my already built website from home on this server but i have no idea what i'm doing.

if anybody can give me a quick run down on what i need to do then this would be great.

i know its not going to be resolved on 1 post but hoping to resolve it over a period of time, so please be patient if i keep asking questions.

i do have a static ip address that i ordered with my bt broadband but not sure what i do with it.

i did try changing the tcp/ip settings on the internet protocol version 4 properties but i don't think the static ip address i got from bt matches up with the subnet mask.

Unfortunately you may not find much help on this forum as it aimed at supporting BT's web hosting service.

You may find the following site useful as a starting point for running your own web server.
