Uploading file to the hosting site

I am having problems uploading files and I've tried a number suggestions, still not working. I get as far as logging in and can see the public folder but when I try to open using windows explorer it displays a 505 error.

Can you pls help. Does anyone have a step by step guide from beginning to end, will be appreciated.

This is not working. Giving a bit more information, I have built my website using html which currently is on my computer. I need to upload those files to the internet. I get as far as entering the ftp password and username and can see the directories including the public folder. But when I try to get into the public folder, it gives the "505 access denied" error message.

Any advise will be useful

Get yourself an FTP client such as Filezilla or any of the many that are available fro free download. You will find that it should connect without any issues and save you a lot of grief.
