Why are my monthly charges greater than what was stated in my 5-year contract signed in March 2026

My 5-year contract, started at the beginning of 2026, shows monthly charge of £46.96 (before VAT), increasing to £49.95 (before VAT) next April (2027). But then it increased by monthly increments between February and April and, since May this year (2020) I have been charged £73.13 a month (this includes VAT, or course). Why would it seem a lot more than the contract indicates. (I'm actually shocked to realise I somehow agreed to a 5-year contract in the first place!)
