BT Business Hub 2 - Assign single or multiple Static IP addresses

Find out which BT Business Hub you've got.

When you buy your single static IP address, just reboot your hub and it'll automatically pick up your address.

If you want to access devices within your network through your static IP, you'll need to set up port forwarding.

To use multiple Static IP addresses, you must have signed up for them when you ordered your BT Business Broadband service or subscribed to them through My BT Business account.

To assign multiple Static IP addresses simply:

Open up a web browser page and type in the default IP address, 192.168.1.254 in the browser address bar and then press Enter.
Once open, select Settings in the top menu, then Broadband in the second menu and then Link Configuration in the third menu.
Scroll down to the Public IP Section and tick the Enable box.

Enter the Router address and the Subnet Mask. These will have been provided in the documentation you received from BT.

If you've purchased 5 public network static IP addresses then your subnet mask will be 255.255.255.248.
If you've purchased 13 public network static IP addresses then your subnet mask will be 255.255.255.240.

If you want to open the firewall put a tick in Auto Firewall Open. This will open the WAN side of the firewall.
Click Save and enter the router password if required. The default password is the s/n number on the Business Hub. When the settings are saved a message will appear to confirm the change.
To assign a Static IP to a device, select Settings in the top menu, LAN in the second menu and NAT and Address Allocation in the third menu.

Scroll down the device list and click on the Address Assignment dropdown list. Scroll the list to the top and select Public (Select WAN IP Mapping).

Using the WAN IP Mapping dropdown, select the Static IP you want to assign to your device.

Now click on Save to save your settings. Enter the router password if prompted.

Please note: You'll need to re-boot your device so that it is assigned the new Static IP address.

The BT Business Hub firewall will block all unsolicited external access requests. If you wish to access your device externally from the Internet then you will need to open the relevant ports in the firewall. To do this:

Select Settings in the top menu, then Firewall in the second menu and then Allow Applications, Pinholes and DMZ Mode in the third menu.

Scroll down to 1) Select a computer and click on a device to choose it. Your device will now show with You have chosen next to it.
Next scroll down to 2) Edit firewall settings for this computer: and select Allow individual application(s).

Select the application type, the above screen shows Server selected. You can now select one of the applications listed, the above screen shows PPTP Server selected.
When the desired application has been selected click Add and the application will be added to the Hosted Applications list. You can add multiple applications to be hosted by your device. If required enter the router password.
If you wish to allow all port traffic through to your device then scroll down to Allow all applications (DMZplus mode).

Select Allow and then press Save at the bottom of the page. You will see a message to confirm that the changes have been applied to your device.
