Where I live, it seems there's no way to improve on my 1Mbps upload speed. If my wife or i do any large uploads, the internet becomes unuseable.

Is there any way around this? Please don't ask me to tell my wife to upload her videos at night!

Why does a busy upload affect the download speeds SO much? I realise that downloads need to keep sending feedback for error-checking purposes.

It's frustrating because a neighbour 400m away has FTTP but I can't have it. My line is underground and he has a nearby pole. That could be the reason.

Satellite is not a practical option due to the data limits.

Hi kelper

I checked the Digital Scotland website to see what the rollout plans are for your address and it says you are part of the R100 programme - you can find out more info here. I imagine the routing of your line vs your neighbour's is indeed the reason for the difference in network availability.
