BT Essential Digital Voice Phone Batteries

User guide says "Before you put new rechargeable batteries in, check which type you need. On the bottom of the handset
charger, the label will say Type A or Type B."

No Type A or Type B on the bottom of my handset charger. Is there any other way to find out which it is? Of course, I can take the original supplied batteries out and look but is there some other information I need?

Have you looked at the existing batteries? Just get the same make and partnumber.

Perhaps the mAh rating will tell you.
