Is there a way to export emails from bt emails online from my account without using outlook on a desktop?

I'm not sure what you mean. Is it a desktop app you wish to avoid? If you go to live.com, you can export your mailbox, but it can take up to four days!

I'm installing Outlook on my phone to see if helps.

Update: Outlook on Android does not offer export

If there is a backup option then yes you can do that.

If you have paid-for version of Outlook on Windows or Mac, then you should be able to access the BT emails.
