Given the tacky Yealink W37H handset that was sold to me the last time I spoke to the sales team I don't feel inclined to repeat the process. Yes, I want and could afford to buy new handsets/headsets - though it's a crying shame that I couldn't continue the previous working DECT phones and huge environmental waste to not be able to do so as already mentioned - I still find it amazing that this was all permitted to happen without that cost being considered - I bet thousands of tonnes of WEEE is being generated from perfectly functional equipment that can no longer be used. I am not about to buy another unit over the phone until I can see online what is being discussed - I cannot see that it can be that difficult for BT business to set up a webpage to sell their products to business customers so we can choose for ourselves what looks like it will be suitable. It very much smacks of Microsoft's current drive to guess what customers want and then implement with no option for change. I'm sorry, customers don't want that. The vast majority of us know what we need and just want to be able to browse online under our own speed and select products without feeling the pressure of being on a telephone call to a sales team. I would also be inclined to stop providing the rock-bottom handset to new customers like myself by default. I stayed with BT believing in 'better the devil I knew' and made a huge attempt to make sure I continued to deal with 'official BT' rather than one of these look alike groups that kept calling. I am so far very disappointed in the outcome. The infrastructure of the provision, both hardware (that el-cheapo handset) and software - such as providing an online shop for customers is sadly lacking and appears rushed through. Amazon manage to provide Alexa units that are sent out pre-programmed with their customers details following online purchases. BT are not going to lose control of the system by allowing clients to do the same. As noted I do want additional handsets, but I will only purchase them when I can do so via an online store.

I've just had cloud voice installed and have been sent just one of these Mickey Mouse - Toy - Yealink phones W73H model. Considering the change to this rotten internet phone system was forced on my by BT - the old PSTN phone worked fine and I previously had 5 decent handsets on my old system and it would work during a powercut I find this is not at all impressive. However, I am where I am.

How do I get more handsets of some type that will work with the system. I can't find a webpage anywhere that lists a load of phones that I can view and then buy online. I can't think why there isn't a online shop somewhere that does this. Can someone please point me at the right page?

I find that a shame - I would be good to be able to log on and actually see the handset prior to purchase - if I phone up how do I know what the phones are that are being discussed? An online store would be a far more useful option. The one they supplied the W73H seems very lightweight and hardly even looks like a business phone - it is tiny in the hand with tiny button - I am only glad I am not someone with dexterity issues, but that was only phone I was offered. I've seen Yealink headsets that would, from my research, appear to be compatible with what I've been supplied - I find a headset very useful, and I could do with a couple of further extensions on the line around the premises that would all ring when I call comes in, but I am not keen on the lightweight gizmo that was provided and would not want more of those. I am very disappointed with the standard handset, esp. as I already had a perfectly serviceable BT DECT system with 4 handsets which is now redundant and now is useless needs disposing of at environmental cost AND I actually have to purchase replacements even though I didn't want to be forced to move to digital. I don't think the waste that will arise from this move to digital has been fully thought through. It seems financially unfair that I have not been provided with a system that did not directly replace what I had already spent good cash buying, with I must admit an earlier vague hope, that the BT Advanced Phone Z Quad system might be compatible with the digital system when the move was forced on me as it has been.

Thanks for sharing such a detailed and honest explanation of your experience — I completely understand why you’re feeling disappointed. The move from traditional DECT products to digital voice services has been a big change, and it’s important you feel the equipment meets your needs, especially when it replaces a system that previously worked well for you.

At the moment, Cloud Voice handsets and accessories can only be ordered through our BT Business Sales Team rather than an online store. I appreciate that not being able to browse models beforehand makes the process less clear, and your feedback on this is really valuable — I’ll make sure it’s passed to the right teams.

Regarding the Yealink W73H, it is one of the lighter models in the Yealink range, and there are alternative handsets and headsets available that many customers prefer for comfort, durability and accessibility. The Sales Team can talk you through the different compatible options (including headsets) so you can choose something that works better for your setup and the way you use your phones day‑to‑day.

You also raised an important point about waste and the environmental impact of replacing equipment that still works. That’s a completely fair concern, and you’re not alone — the digital upgrade has prompted similar questions from a lot of businesses. I’ll make sure your comments are fed back, as they help us improve how we support customers through this transition.

If you'd like to explore handset alternatives, headsets, or additional extensions that all ring together, the BT Business Sales Team can talk through every option available for Cloud Voice and help you choose suitable replacements:

📞 BT Business Sales Team: 0800 028 2075
🌐 BT Local Business finder: BT Local Business | BT Business

They’ll be able to guide you through compatible models so you’re not left with equipment that doesn’t suit your needs.
