I have just logged into the homepage of the Router and upon clicking View Home Network found 3 seperate PC's (named detective) on the Network with Private IP addresses. Does anybody know what these are and how do I remove them from the network.

Thanks

HI

I can provide the detail necessary to clear the device list, before you clear the list I wonder whether you would mind posting some detail on the devices, I am interested to see if the all 3 devices are using the same MAC address, or these devices are list as 3 separate hosts.

You can collect this detail by following process below:

Select the following link: http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=C01&THISPAGE=&NEXTPAGE=C01

Can you then select device details for each of the devices listed as "detective" which should provide some detail on each device i.e. mac address etc, please note this in non sensitive data and there should be no security impact of listing the detail on this POST.

In order to clear the device list to get rid of these "detective" clients, you can follow the process below:

Click on following link to go to reset page: http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=J21&THISPAGE=J10&NEXTPAGE=J21

Now select "Clear Local Network"

All devices should now be cleared on you gateway, please let me know if you have any issues.

Best Regards.

I have the same issue, I have 3 devices connected to my network, all called detective.  The only way to clear them is to clear my whole network which is not the best solution.  I am using a 2700HGV modem.

mac addresses below:-

detective       e9:eb:b3:a6:db:3c   81.138.241.52 detective       4d:c8:43:bb:8b:a6   81.138.241.53 detective       45:3b:13:0d:89:0a   192.168.1.64

All connection types are unknown.

Is there any way to stop this without clearing my network?

I too have this problem.

Did you ever get the bottom of this?

What are these connections?

Greetings,

I had the same MAC addresses after using the MS Wizard to create a first server on my network.

detective  e9:eb:b3:a6:db:3c 192.168.1.102 Device Details
detective  4d:c8:43:bb:8b:a6 192.168.1.103 Device Details
detective  45:3b:13:0d:89:0a 192.168.1.104 Device Details

The three devices above appeared on my network and were not reachable.  More information pointed me to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945948 which attempts to explain why these are created without admitting the actual mac addresses.  I had to reset my 2wire router computer list to remove these devices.  The information on how to remove computers from the list is in the Settings,Diagnostics,Reset menu of my router.

Hopefully this saves someone else time in the future.....
