Bt Fibre and broadband failure

We recently cancelled our long term PIPEX connection because the broadband kept dropping out so that we couldnot load web pages. We never quite got to the bottom of it but it appeared because we have poor copper wires into the business every time they turned up the contention rate to give us better speed it kept dropping out to reset. In the end with their new customer services it became impossible to get the rate lowered to get a more stable connection.

We are now with BT Fibre to the cabinet with speed of c37 and c1.6 but - you guessed it - our broadband again keeps dropping off (although the broadband light stays on and the internet Ethernet and wireless flash) and we cannot load pages (that includes either wireless to remote PC or hard wired). Bt wholesale did various work and said there was a problem at the exchange but having sorted it!? It still drops off and they say we have been connected for 4 days.

We have changed power supplies, moved the hub away from the power, had the router mounted on the wall for better airation, checked both hard wire and wireless when it goes down and both are the same.

We had an engineer booked but cancelled as they said it was working. We have an engineer rebooked - anyone have any ideas.

You perhaps have more than 1 issue that causes similar symptoms. It's got to be worth assigning dns on each machine, you will be able to find a 'how-to' in the BT pages somewhere. Try assigning dns numbers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 Bit of a long shot but might be an idea to dial 1571 and clear off any voicemails if you have them. Try removing all equipment, phones, fax machines etc. off that line for a while and see if that has any effect. Maybe bring another laptop in and connect directly to the router with an alternate Ethernet cable and see if it drop with the other machines. All this stuff is to trouble-shoot your internal set-up so if none of this helps then fingers crossed your engineer finds something to fix this time.

We have had a similar fault now for rather a long time.

We have had countless engineers out and to the exchange.

We have been promised things that they never achieved etc

Recently they told us basically go away we cannot supply you with the product we sold you so long ago.

The damage to our business has been huge, their offer a couple of hundred pounds.

Let me just say that I am not the happiest of clients
